Ayurveda, which literally means “The Science of Life,” is the healing science from India. It has been practiced for over 5,000 years by millions of individuals to assist the body in journeying back to optimal health. More and more people are discovering that these ancient principles are easily applicable to modern life and that they have the power to create health and contentment. Health comes when we live in harmony with our true nature as spirit. Ayurveda allows us to get a glimpse of our individual true nature and to find the best ways to live a life of balance. It provides holistic understanding and healing to people on all levels: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Ayurveda uses a multitude of healing modalities including herbs, diet, colors, aromas, sound, lifestyle recommendations, pancha karma, meditation, and yoga.
Based on the popular book “Healing Your Life: Lessons on the Path of Ayurveda“ by Dr. Marc Halpern, Founder of the California College of Ayurveda. This is a six week series of Ayurvedic education classes taught by Ayurveda Practitioner Elianne van Waalwijk van Doorn; that supports each participant to create a sustainable diet and lifestyle in order to prevent disease and promote longevity. In this program you will learn how to live harmoniously through your five senses utilizing food, colors, sounds, aromas and touch. This program will provide the opportunity to examine your life and transform it into a life of harmony and optimal health.
This course is offered in collaboration with Sankalpa Ayurveda College - a school committed to training the next generation of Ayurvedic health professionals and making Ayurveda easily accessible to everyone for better health and wellbeing.
In this class you will become empowered with an understanding of the cause of disease and your unique constitution. This forms the foundation for understanding yourself on all levels of body, mind and soul.
This class will provide an opportunity to learn the nature of your mind, which has the same basic constitution as your body. You will also learn the nature of your imbalances, which is key to restoring and maintaining health and well-being!
Our five senses are portals through which we interact with the world. Through our senses we take in that which leads to health and well-being, or to disease and disharmony. In this module, you will come to understand food in a whole new way, including learning the extraordinary importance of how you eat your food!
What forms of touch are most healing for you? What habits and routines do you practice each day?
Through our senses of smell and vision we take into our body, mind and consciousness impressions that can either lead to health and wellness or to disease. In this module you will have the opportunity to create your own customized aromatherapy spray and to learn a color meditation, both based on what is most balancing for you..
What effect do different forms of communication have your health and well-being? What types of music will support your healing, and what types are not healthy for you? In this module you will experience sound through the lens of Ayurveda, empowering you to make health-giving choices regarding the sounds that you bring into your life.
